Third Sovereign are a tech/death metal band hailing from India. The band's second release, Perversion Swallowing Sanity, is the first since 2007's Destined To Suffer.

I went into this album not completely oblivious to the band with no expectations, and was blown away. It's one of the best ways to spend a half an hour.  I want to call this a hybrid of thrash and death, but I would be insulting how talented these guys are.

You would not be able to tell if this band was from India, England, or Indiana. It's like a Randy Blythe clone playing over Revocation riffs and Black Dahlia Murder beats. Sign me up. It's quite hard to pick out a couple songs that stand out, but all the highlighted tracks were the ones I did revisit. Each strong is solid, and while they are different, the album bleeds so well together it is better to view it as a whole.

It feels like the tempo somehow increases as each song progresses. Perversion Swallowing Sanity causes uncontrollable headbanging and the urge to destroy everything around you. There's a bit of technical death metal, a dash of black metal, elements of thrash, and an all around sound that will leave you with two caverns where your ears once were. Thanks, Third Sovereign!

I wish this was 15 songs. Hopefully we won't have to wait another decade for another release, but this one should hold us over for quite some time. I will be playing this record many, many times throughout 2016 and beyond.
