Venue: The Ready Room

Location: 4195 Manchester Avenue

Capacity: 750

Hours: 9pm-1:30am Friday and Saturday (regular)

The Ready Room is one of the newer venues I've attended for a show in St. Louis, and I've enjoyed my time at their office. Getting to see Kylesa and Deafheaven there fairly recently was a definite plus.

One of the best things about The Ready Room is its setup. Everything from the bar greeting you as soon as you enter, to the merch tent visible but tucked in the back right of the stage, to bathroom location leaves plenty of space to hang out and socialize before the show or rock out during.

The men's room entrance faces the stage, making it easier to hear the stage if you have to break the seal. Sorry ladies.

The viewing area for the stage is quite spacious, allowing a solid horizontal sight line to take in every member of whichever band is playing. The guys running sound at The Ready Room do a great job and the handful of times I've been there I haven't heard any issues; everything has sounded great.  The staff is very down to earth and makes you feel at home.

The only thing that's a bit of a downer is the inconsistency of the metal shows at the venue, but even that is a minor complaint that could be said about the St. Louis metal scene in general. I also wish that they did more advertising, at least in St. Charles.

Overall, I would definitely recommend checking out The Ready Room for a show, even if it isn't metal. You'll be in for a good time.
