If you like: Travis, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, college rock

Standout Tracks: Lose Your Grip, For You The Moon

I would say that Basement is more more of an alternative rock band with some hard rock influences. More of a radio rock band, like a harder version of Travis. Basement is an English band like Travis.

I took a chance on Basement's Promise Everything, based solely on the cover, which had a psychedelic experimental feel to it. I was way off. It is the band's third release.

I didn't mind “Lose Your Grip” or “For You The Moon”, but overall Promise Everything is just a bit too poppy for my tastes. I will give them props for the “Oversized” music video; its a pretty cool concept from a film standpoint.

It's catchy in a different way. It's easily the lightest album I've reviewed so far, but it's not bad for what it is. This release is aimed more at the college-age crowd, and metalheads won't be missing anything by not hearing this album this year. But if you're looking for a lighter rock side to mellow out on, this would be a good place to start.
